Two seminars about conservation areas and the impact on homes and businesses in Carmarthenshire will be held.
These online events are part of Carmarthenshire County Council’s place and sustainability department’s efforts to ensure sustainable development while preserving the county's heritage.
The department reviewed 10 conservation areas across Carmarthenshire, indicating a key push towards conservation. The reviews were approved by full council.
The Built Heritage Team will host the free seminars on Thursday, April 25, and Monday, April 29, 2024.
To ensure universal accessibility, the seminars from 6.30pm to 8pm will be held via Zoom, with all interested parties invited to join.
The first seminar, "Homeowners: Changes in Conservation Areas," targets homeowners keen to understand alterations that can be made to domestic properties within conservation areas.
Conversely, the second seminar, "For Business Owners: Commercial Properties," is crafted for businesses operating within conservation areas.
Both seminars will focus on the significance of conservation areas, circumstances requiring planning permission for changes, guidelines on energy efficiency measures and architectural modifications, and directions to additional accessible resources.
By educating residents and business owners about these changes, the seminars aim to encourage the preservation of shared heritage within Carmartheshire.
Equipping homeowners and businesses with clear insights on conservation area changes is essential to navigate planning processes confidently and responsibly.
Attendees will be guided towards credible sources for further information and support, thereby facilitating informed decision-making and averting potential contraventions of planning regulations.
These educational seminars form an integral part of a comprehensive strategy to strengthen historic building services within Carmarthenshire.
By engaging with the community and encouraging collaboration, the council aims to protect the cultural legacy for future generations.
