A ‘No Pylons’ fundraising event featuring live music was hosted at a local rugby club last Friday (May 24).

The No Pylons Fighting Fund took place at Llandovery Rugby Clubs Church Bank grounds where Aaron Perry performed his songs and retired British Lions rugby player Wyn Jones held a Q & A session alongside renowned referee Nigel Owens.

The event also included comedy tunes from Radnor Twurzels, a raffle with rugby memorabilia amongst the prizes, an auction of promises and an Inter Young Farmers Club Tug of War competition on the rugby pitch.

The event organisers said: “The No Pylons Fund aims to amplify the voices of the valley’s residents, compelling the government to heed their concerns.

“The presence of pylons on farmland would render it unusable for two years, disrupt local wildlife, and pose potential health risks.

“With a general election on the horizon, now is the opportune moment to hold politicians accountable and demand their stance on this pressing issue.

“The fundraiser not only sought to gather financial support but also to galvanize the community, ensuring that their fight to preserve the Towy Valley continues with even greater vigour and unity. The fight isn’t over yet!”

Nigel Owens and Wyn Jones are local farmers and support the campaign to stop the pylons.
