A live music gig featuring former Glastonbury musicians will take place at a local community centre in Carmarthenshire this weekend.
On Sunday (June 9), ‘A Band Named Brian’ will perform at Llangadog Community Centre at 7:30pm after appearing at Glastonbury Festival last summer.
The folk-pop duo consisting of Brian Madigan and Rob Whale have also performed at The Pembroke Yeoman in Haverfordwest, The Cellar in Cardigan and the Shindig Festival in Somerset.
The band’s style is described as two-parts Billy Bragg, to one-part Levellers, with a hint of Johnny Cash and Tom Lehrer.
Accompanied by bass player Rob, Brian writes ‘just’ songs full of passion and takes his audience through a unique journey into their own conscience.
Furthermore, Brian and Rob are keen cyclists and are passionate about spreading the word on climate change through their songs.
They want to demonstrate how cycling is an enjoyable way of travelling without burning fossil fuel.
Brian said: “When you travel by bike, you really experience the journey. Going by vehicle can sometimes feel like time-travel, in that you get in a box in one space and time, then leave it at another – more or less oblivious of what lies in between.”
In their upcoming tour, the pair will cycle 585 miles, including hefty climbs and are grateful most venues are sponsoring overnight accommodation.
Tickets are available at the P.O and Baileys in Llangadog or online - £8.00 for adults and £5.00 concessions.
