Home-Start Cymru has been celebrating the hard work of its Carmarthenshire volunteers.
As Volunteers Week is observed around the globe (June 3-9), the organisation has taken the opportunity to acknowledge the commitment and dedication of its remarkable volunteers.
They have been the driving force behind the organisation’s mission, transforming countless lives across Wales for more than 40 years.
This year is particularly poignant as the group reflects on a milestone anniversary and takes the time to extend their deepest gratitude to the exceptional individuals who have been the backbone of the organisation.
In Carmarthenshire, four volunteers received long service platinum certificates, in recognition of their commitment at least 15 years, significantly impacting families and the community.
One recipient of the platinum recognition is Barbara Voyle, who has dedicated 19 years to volunteering across Carmarthenshire.
Ms Voyle shared insight into what fuels her steadfast commitment, saying: "Firstly, it’s a privilege to be welcomed into families' lives.
"Hopefully, over time, with just a couple of hours a week spent with them, we can make a difference in both the children’s lives and their parents' lives too.
"Also, in my own life, I have learned so much from different families' circumstances. I'm sure other volunteers will agree with me that helping this generation of children will hopefully continue into the next generation."
In addition to recognising volunteers for their years of service, Home-Start Cymru also places great emphasis on the broader societal impact of volunteering.
As a core pillar of support for local communities, volunteering not only enriches the lives of those who dedicate their time but also, plays a crucial role in building a compassionate, resilient society.
Volunteers make meaningful connections, inspire lasting change and contribute positively to the lives of families in their local areas.
Lynne Howells, Home-Start Cymru's national volunteer manager, emphasised the importance of their role, saying: "Our volunteers are the heart and soul of Home-Start Cymru.
"Their dedication and compassion have made a lasting difference in the lives of countless families.
"We are incredibly proud and grateful for their unwavering commitment, at Home-Start Cymru, we believe that volunteering is not only a rewarding experience for individuals but also an essential pillar of support for local communities.
"By taking up volunteering, individuals have the opportunity to make meaningful connections, contribute positively to the lives of others, and inspire lasting change to families in their local areas."
In the spirit of volunteer week and in celebration of its 40th anniversary, Home-Start Cymru encourages those considering volunteering to take the first step towards making a difference.
The dedication and kindness of volunteers can truly change lives and create a brighter future for families in need.
