Crowds have gathered in Ammanford today (Thursday, June 6) for a memorial service marking the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
The service has taken place to commemorate those who lost their lives during the Second World War.
A crowd of locals and military veterans gathered at the Memorial Avenue gates for a short but deeply poignant service to marked the historical event.
Major Ken Burton, president of the local branch of the Royal British Legion presided over event with the service being led by Padre Alan Hamilton who gave a reading and prayers for the fallen. A bugler also played the last post.
Two wreaths were laid at the war memorial by Mr Burton and the other by former MP for Ammanford Jonathan Edwards.
The event marked the 80th anniversary of the Normandy Landings, which happened on the same day in 1944.
The Normandy Landings was the day when Allied Forces came together to invade Nazi-occupied France and was a key plan for emerging victorious.
