“Petals is going to be a big loss to the community because my flowers are the best. I used to give a free bouquet of flowers every Friday for five or six years.”

On the Petals Florist Facebook page, Debbie also posted: “Hi to all my loyal customers over the many years, I will finally close my gates on the 30th of this month.

“I have loved serving all of you and being an Interflora UK member for many years while sending and receiving all your floral gifts. But mostly I will miss all the funeral work I have done over many years now for loved ones.

“I would like to thank Cwmni Griffiths Bwtrimawr for allowing me to do their floral tributes.

“I have loved working alongside them, they truly are the best out there! I am for now retiring but who knows what the next chapter of my life will be.

“But rest assured I have a wonderful daughter and son in-law by my side. My beautiful grandchildren and my lovely daughter in-law, to keep me busy ❤️diolch yn fawr. Thank you to you all xxx. We have a 50 per cent sale off on all that's left.”

Following the announcement of her retirement, tributes poured in for Debbie’s work as a florist.
