A MAN will face a trial after he was charged with raping a woman and being controlling and coercive in a relationship.

Joshua Boland, 28, appeared in the dock at Swansea Crown Court where he faced three offences.

Boland was charged with controlling or coercive behaviour in an intimate relationship in the Hendy area between January 2020 and December 2023.

It was alleged that the defendant looked through the complainant’s phone, demanded details of her sexual history with previous partners, called her abusive names, threatened suicide if she broke up with him, taking her in his car against her will, accusing her of cheating on him, and contacting her colleagues pretending to be her.

Boland was accused of constantly messaged and tried to contact the complainant – including sending more than 80 messages in a single day, trying to access the complainant’s social media accounts, turning up at their place of work, and following the complainant to a family member’s home.

He was also charged with raping a woman at a point between August 31, 2022, and October 1, 2023.

Boland, of Marble Hall Road in Llanelli, pleaded not guilty to all charges.

He was remanded back in to custody and will face a trial on November 18.
