AN UPPER Brynamman man has admitted being found with heroin, cocaine and cannabis, but denied he was a drug dealer.

Lee Byrne, 35, of Cwmgarw Road, appeared at Swansea Crown Court via video link charged with six drug offences.

He was accused of possessing diamorphine and cocaine – both Class A drugs – and cannabis – a Class B drug – on May 30 with intent to supply them.

Byrne denied each of these offences, pleading guilty instead to lesser alternative charges of possession of diamorphine, cocaine and cannabis.

Prosecutor Craig Jones said these pleas weren’t acceptable, and a trial would be sought on the drug dealing charges. This was due to the quantities of the drugs that the defendant was found with, he said.

The court was told that Byrne had refused to give his phone PIN to the police because “as far as he’s concerned, there’s nothing on there”.

The defendant was remanded back in to custody and will face a trial on November 21.
