A local butcher has been recognised by the community council for being in business for over 40 years.
Dewi Roberts had a visit from Chair of Dyffryn Cennen Community Council, Pat Thomas who gave him a cake and offered her congratulations.
Dewi was only 21 years old when he first started his business.
He said: “I’ve been in business for over 40 years and the council have recognized the fact.”
Councillor Edward Thomas added: “Dewi is an inspiration to all budding entrepreneurs. He took the brave decision to go into business aged 21 and has built up a successful shop.”
Edward also posted on his Facebook page the following: “40 years ago, a young businessman set up a business in Ffairfach. Today I visited along with Mrs Pat Thomas Chair of Dyffryn Cennen Community Council.
“The cake was made by my niece's talented partner Abby Morgan and yes, it is a cake.
"Dewi has contributed to the community and the business is well established.
“Congratulations to Charlotte Morgan together with Rebecca Butcher for organising the surprise, including balloons from Igam Ogam and fizz for those visiting the shop to celebrate.
Dewi was delighted to receive visits, cards and congratulations during the day from pupils of Ysgol Ffairfach School and their teachers, describing it as 'the highlight of the day!'
