Community support drop in sessions have been launched by Llandeilo Town Council in the Civic Hall.

At the first meeting Womens Institute Llandeilo hosted a coffee morning and there was an opportunity to ask questions to Mayor Charlotte Morgan and County Councillor Edward Thomas.

The event saw wider support groups attend such as Wales Council for the Deaf, Preventing Homelessness, Actif – Adult Fitness Activities, The Wallich – Conflict Resolution, Shadows and Alzheimer’s Society.

Mayor Charlotte Morgan said: “I’m incredibly pleased with how well the first drop-in session went.

“We had people representing their groups either with a table, leaflets or people came and circulated chatting with others, and we already have others signed up for the next.”

The Llandeilo Community Action Hub have secured a grant from the Nisa ‘Making a Difference Locally’ program to fund the first six months of the drop in sessions.

Christoph said: “Our work was always to connect isolated people and people who don’t know what help or opportunities are available to them.

“Cwmamman and Llandovery have launched similar projects and Nacro Cymru are holding their Llandeilo Connecting Carmarthenshire Community Wellbeing drop ins at our event to bring groups from a wider spectrum into the fold.”

Kate added: “It’s great that the town council came onboard the project and has taken such a strong and positive lead.

“The drop in provides essential information about services, but it is also a great opportunity for people to get together over a free cup of coffee and have a chat.

“The Next drop ins will be 20th Aug, 17 Sept and 15 Oct. If you have a local group that might be of interest or provide support service, please contact the council or action hub.”
