The Amman Valley Hospital has been busy recently, introducing a chest clinic and hosting a summer fete.

Recently, the hospital initiated its first chest clinic, led by Professor Keir Lewis and nurse Lindsey.

Positive feedback has poured in from patients expressing relief at now having their appointments closer to home, eliminating the need for a round trip to Llanelli.

The Amman Valley Hospital League of Friends also re-launched its summer fete on July 6 at the Cwmaman Park, a fresh venue for this community-centric event.

The fete was hosted in collaboration with new partners such as Cwmaman Town Council, Glanaman AFC, Amman United RFC, and Cwmaman Bowling Club.

The community affair was housed in a sizable marquee with enough space for a variety of stalls and activities.

The Pavilion Cafe was open to attendees, serving meals and hot drinks.

Journalist Garry Owen, despite reporting on the election in London, managed to arrive in time to open the fete.

He shared his experience on Twitter, praising the abundance of music, stalls, and food.

Entertainment was provided by Trap Ukuleles, Jac y Do & Triawd Trap, an amalgamation of sounds and tunes that lifted everyone's spirits.

Raffle draws were done by Brodyr Gregory.

Councillor Kevin Madge, chairperson of the League of Friends, concluded the event with a heartfelt speech of thanks.

Though the weather was less than perfect with bouts of rain, wind, and cold, the community came together in support of the hospital.

Organisers said the pandemic has been challenging for everyone and the League of Friends aimed for the summer fete to be a heartwarming event accessible to all community members.
