Ellie Shaw-Jones used a birthday present to raise more than £1,600 in memory of her father.

Ellie was given a skydive gift by her mum, Sarah, and used it to raise money for the Chemotherapy Day Unit and Ty Bryngwyn Hospice at Prince Philip Hospital, in Llanelli, where her dad Terry had worked for more than 40 years.

Ellie said: "My wonderful dad, Terry Jones (Skin) sadly lost his courageous battle with cancer in April 2022. Daddy worked as a porter in the old Llanelli General and then Prince Phillip Hospital for 40 years but sadly had to finish when he was given his devastating diagnosis.

“I’m safely back down to earth after such a wonderful, unforgettable experience. I would like to thank every single one of you who kindly donated to me."

"And the biggest thank you to my Mum, Sarah, for buying me the skydive gift for my birthday and helping me raise the incredible amount of £1,620 for the Chemotherapy Day Unit and Ty Bryngwyn Hospice in memory of my wonderful Dad.”

Nicola Llewelyn, head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, said: “We’d like to say a massive well done to Ellie for taking on the skydive. Your courage and determination to take on the challenge inspires us all!

“The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
