A tennis-a-thon took place at Llandybie Tennis Club recently to raise money for a cancer charity.

The 12-hour tennis marathon held by club member, Carwyn Gape, began under cloudy skies but brightened into a perfect day for tennis.

Starting off strong, Mr Grape stormed through the first six hours with support from fellow players.

However, around the eighth hour, momentum began to slow until fresh supporters arrived, rejuvenating the mood and keeping Mr Grape on course.

The climax of the event proved to be the toughest, with the preceding 10-hour effort taking their toll on him.

Yet, some tempting pizza and champagne saw him through to the end.

Following the 12-hour effort, all attendees joined in for a session, fondly renamed "Carwyn's Game".

The event was highly successful, prompting talk of a 24-hour venture next time.

Mr Grape's effort generated more than £1,000 for Young Lives vs Cancer Cymru.

Everyone involved, particularly Mr Grape's family and those who contributed to making the day a success, are to be thanked.

Special mentions go to Moira for providing the crucial lunch, Sarah for coordinating the day, and Mr Grape's wife Holly and his parents Nicola and Simon for their steadfast support throughout the event.
