Wales’ only regional choir, Côr Meibion De Cymru, is delighted that King Charles III has announced his continued patronage.
The announcement came on the first anniversary of his coronation and continues more than 40 years of Royal support of the choir.
The decision has led to the choir staging a number of celebration concerts, with the first taking place at St Davids Cathedral on Saturday, September 7, at 7.30pm.
It will be the 33rd time the choir travels west to Pembrokeshire. It will be joined by soloists Sioned Llewellyn and Emyr Lloyd Jones together with organist Merion Wyn Davies.
Tickets are available from the Cathedral Shop or from the choir website at southwalesmalechoir.co.uk/concert-dairy/. You can also contact 07583 853557.
On Saturday October 5 the choir will be at St Teilo Church, Llandeilo, with guests including the towns’ own baritone Owain Rowlands, winner of the W Towyn Roberts Scholarship prize at the National Eisteddfod in Pontypridd last month.
He will be joined by violinist Rahki Singh, now Manchester-based but originally from Llandybie.
Rahki, who’s musical career started at the tender age of nine went on to win The Texaco Young Musician of Wales title and appeared at the first Llandeilo Music Festival 24 years ago.
Tickets at £15 from ‘Peppercorn’ in King Street or by reservation on 07788 816601 or the choir website.
