Llandeilo Lit Fest will be returning next year after it was saved.
The literature festival, which had been going on for eight years and saw its largest audience this past April, was rescued the same day that the town's Festival of Senses was also saved by businesses and community support.
Over recent years, the festival had been struggling to find enough committee members to assist in its management.
Forced resignations from four of its committee members due to health and changing circumstances compelled the remaining team to call for an EAGM to resolve the emerging crisis.
Nonetheless, at the EAGM in Yr Hen Vic on August 27, there was an unexpected influx and support of literature enthusiasts who rallied and joined the committee.
The revived committee is now the largest in the festival history, and also boasts a record number of Welsh first language speakers.
Outgoing chairperson Christoph Fischer expressed gratitude, saying: "I’m so grateful for all the support.
"The festival has grown way beyond what the founding members could ever dream it could become, mainly thanks to the vision and hard work of those who worked on the festival those last eight years."
Angharad Wyn Sinclair who attended Festival in the past, feels privileged to contribute as a new member of the committee.
She said: "I am full of admiration for what has been achieved so far and am excited to collaborate with the chairperson and other members of the committee for the 2025 festival.
"It’s a wonderful and important event that not only showcases the beautiful town and community of Llandeilo, but also the wealth of engaging and talented writers and storytellers we have in Wales, in both languages."
Kate Glanville, a writer previously on the committee and newly elected chairperson, added: "I’m overwhelmed by the number of people who have come forward to help us and impressed with the arsenal of knowledge and experience they bring to the table.
"It was a tough decision to go ahead without those who have left, but I’m now confident that we can put on another worthwhile event in 2025.
"I’d like to thank mayor Charlotte Morgan in particular for coming on board in what is a very busy year for her."
The festival is a three-day event running every third weekend in April in various locations across Llandeilo.
It has won several Carmarthenshire Cultural Awards as well as an award from the Llandeilo and District Civil Society in 2024.
Plans are already underway for the next edition of the festivity in 2025, focusing on Welsh talent and Welsh language writers.
