The police have given an update on the investigation into the fire at Workmen’s Hall in Garnant.
A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police has confirmed the blaze last Monday (August 26) was started by four youths.
Officers are continuing to investigate how the fire was started.
The Workmen’s Hall fire lasted for several hours, and multiple fire crews were called to action.
It began at 7.45pm, forcing Cwmamman Road to close before being reopened at around 1am.
The police confirmations come after Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service previously stated the blaze was started deliberately.
Meanwhile, Carmarthenshire County Council have advised locals in the area to avoid entering abandoned buildings like the Workmen’s Hall for their health and safety.
Councillor Kevin Madge has written to the council on numerous occasions about taking public ownership of the building, but the property remains privately owned.
