Hywel Dda Health Charities has purchased an advanced ultrasound system worth more than £43,000 for Glangwili Hospital's ICU.
The cutting-edge equipment - funded by public donations - is said to enable fast patient evaluations, bolster clinical choices, assist in performing invasive procedures, and track patient progress.
It will be utilised daily, not just for patient care but also to hone the skills of ICU staff members.
Sarah Carmody, service manager - critical care, said: "We are so grateful that generous donations from our local communities have enabled us to purchase the new ultrasound system."
Ms Carmody highlighted the impact, noting that it allows ICU staff to use a portable, multi-purpose ultrasound, consequently reducing examination time and enabling quick assessments of patients undergoing critical care.
Further enhancing medical care and diagnostic work, the advanced system can communicate and store images within existing IT frameworks.
Ms Carmody added: "It will greatly enhance patient care and diagnostics and help guide management of critically ill patients."
Nicola Llewelyn, head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, expressed her appreciation: "The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive."
