THESE defendants have had their cases heard in court recently.

They were charged with drug-driving, drink-driving, and allowing a car to be used without a licence or insurance.

Their cases were heard at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court.

Here’s a round-up of the cases.

GEORGE FOX, 48, of Trehelyg in Llansawel, has admitted driving whilst high on cocaine and cannabis.

Fox was behind the wheel of a Ford Focus on Saron Road in Saron on February 9. When tested, he recorded having 95 micrograms of benzoylecgonine per litre (µg/L) of blood and 3.7µg/L of delta-9-tetrahydrocannibinol in his blood.

The legal limits – to exclude accidental exposure – are 50µg/L and 2µg/L respectively.

Fox pleaded guilty to both offences, and was handed an interim disqualification at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on August 20.

The case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report to be prepared. He was granted bail, and will return to court to be sentenced on September 10.

WILLIAM EVANS, 31, of Tycroes Road in Tycroes, allowed a Volkswagen Polo to be driven without a licence or insurance.

Evans was accused of allowing another man to drive the car on Carmarthen Road in Cross Hands on July 17.

He pleaded guilty at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on August 27 to permitting the use of a vehicle with no insurance and permitting the use of a vehicle otherwise in accordance with a licence.

Evans was fined £120 and must pay £85 in costs. He also had six points added to his licence.

ALED CROW, 31, of Walter Road in Ammanford, was two-and-a-half times the drink-drive limit when behind the wheel.

Crow was driving an Audi A3 on the A40 in Carmarthen on August 12. When breathalysed, he recorded having 90 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

The legal limit is 35.

He pleaded guilty, and was banned from driving for two years at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on August 27.

Crow was also ordered to pay a £666 fine, a surcharge of £266 and £85 in costs.

DAVID HEMINGWAY, 76, of Llanarthney, has been banned from the roads after drink-driving.

Hemingway was driving a Suzuki Celerio at Cross Hands Business Park on August 12. When breathalysed, he recorded having 77 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

He pleaded guilty, and was fined £225 at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on August 27.

Hemingway was banned from driving for 20 months, and must pay £85 in costs and a £90 surcharge.
