The last Llandovery Farmers Market of 2024 will feature live performances from two new acoustic bands next week.
On Saturday, October 5, on Market Square, Wolf Magdala and The Cardboard Box Thieves will make their debut.
Wolf Magdala will perform from 10am and are known for their covers of old favourites like Fleetwood Mac, Queen and Stevie Wonder.
This is a guitarist and singer duo, comprising Rob Bindley and Maryemma Watson from Llangammarch Wells.
Meanwhile, The Cardboard Box Thieves will take stage at midday, singing songs in timeless genres such as Americana, klezmer, blues, country and bluegrass.
The folk group are from Builth Wells – Bob Warburton plays bass and writes the lyrics, Ian Jones is on the banjo, Gary Williams is on the guitar and Kate Williams is on the accordion.
Market Manager, Raoul Bhambral is delighted. “The market has been a big success this year.
“A huge thank you to all the customers who have supported us throughout the year, buying our wonderful Welsh produce and bolstering the local economy. We hope to see you again next year!”
The upcoming market will feature a range of local products that have been processed within 25 miles of Llandovery.

- Black Mountain Itals – fresh greens and leafy vegetables
- The Welsh Farm – beef
- Ffynnon Wen – sheep’s cheese
- Tasty Local Cakes – gluten free cakes
- The Baker’s Pig – charcuterie
- JAR’d – preserves, pickles and marmalade
- Garreg Fechan Honey – honey
- The Tefgan Farm – lamb and mutton
- Austringer Cider – cider
- Handlebar Barista – hot coffees
- Ragged Robin Plant Nursery – pollinator-friendly plants
- Simany’s Flowers – fresh and dried flowers
Some stalls will even sell pasties, sausage rolls and scotch eggs to keep spirits up if it rains.
October 5 is also UK Fungus Day, so visitors can bring examples of their own mushrooms for identification at the market.
