The case of a local man accused of beating an emergency worker has been adjourned for the courts to decide whether there is a case to answer.
Jack Griffiths, 22, of High Street, Ammanford, was initially accused of two counts of assault by beating an emergency worker.
The assaults were alleged to have happened on July 29 this year in Ammanford.
Judge his honour Geraint Walters KC heard today at Swansea Crown Court that one of the charges had been discontinued as it was not thought there was a prospect of conviction.
Griffiths’ defence barrister argued that there may not be a case to answer for the second charge which related to the same incident.
As a result of this he was not required to enter a plea when he appeared at Swansea Crown Court today, Monday, September 30.
Judge Walters adjourned the case so that the crown could decide whether there was a case to answer and gave dates for the prosecution and defence to submit their arguments.
The case will next be heard at Swansea Crown Court on October 25.
Until that time Griffiths was remanded on conditional bail. Judge Walters, however, altered Griffiths’ bail conditions so that a residency condition remained but he no longer has to report to Ammanford Police station three times a week.
