A cabaret show featuring dance, circus, and games is coming to a Carmarthenshire town.
Performers Jo Fong and George Orange will be in Llandovery this October, bringing their show, The Rest of Our Lives, to the Rhys Prichard Memorial Hall on Saturday, October 19.
The show centres around two middle-aged performers combining their skills and talents in an eclectic mix of dance, circus, and games.
Jo Fong is an experienced dancer, while George Orange is a seasoned street and circus artist.
They have 100 years of life experience between them, which they bring to the stage along with a soundtrack of floor-fillers and a dose of eco-friendly optimism.
The Rest of Our Lives asks the audience to consider the question, how are we all thinking about the rest of our lives?
The show is said to have been conceived before the pandemic, and its exploration of the body and the chemistry of being together has taken on new significance as society comes back together after the lockdowns.
The performance has been showcased at various festivals and theatres, including the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Ageless Festival, Machynlleth Comedy Festival, The Place Theatre in London, Dance House in Cardiff, Chapter Arts Centre, and seven village halls across England.
Audience members have described it as "one of the most joyful, celebratory and hilarious experiences of my life" and "quite possibly one of the best things I’ve ever experienced".
Jo Fong said: "The show was commissioned by the Rural Touring Dance Initiative.
"Certainly, both me and George were curious about how a collaboration would go.
"We work in different fields yet there’s a commonality in how we work or rather play in spontaneity, liveness, and in relation to audiences.
"In fact, the show was created in grief, way before the global grief we now have upon us, and death certainly puts a few things into perspective.
"There’s been a loss but I think both me and George were exploring how we hoped to live.
"I’ve been totally overwhelmed by the responses to this performance.
"It seems to be tapping into our mutual navigation of this 'post-COVID' era."
The Rest of Our Lives is supported by the Arts Council of Wales, Noson Allan - Night Out, Wales Arts International, the Rural Touring Dance Initiative, Fieldwork, Dance House Cardiff, China Plate, Yorkshire Dance, Wales Millennium Centre, Place Theatre, and Chapter.
