A 73-YEAR-OLD man has admitted a series of assaults against a woman.
Thomas Evans, of Pantiago Road in Pontarddulais, appeared in the dock at Swansea Crown Court charged with five offences in Trefenter in Ceredigion.
Evans was alleged to have engaged in coercive or controlling behaviour between January 1, 2019, and August 30 this year, by causing a woman to fear that violence would be used against her on at least two occasions.
The defendant was further charged with three offences of assault occasioning actual bodily harm dated on September 27, 2020, in August 2021, and on August 30 this year. These were all alleged to have been against the same complainant.
He was also accused of threatening to kill the same woman on August 30.
Evans pleaded guilty to the assaults, but denied coercive control and making threats to kill. He also admitted an offence of harassment without violence.
Prosecutor Ashanti-Jade Walton told the court that these pleas were acceptable and a trial would not be sought on the remaining offences.
Judge Paul Thomas KC adjourned the case after granting an application for a pre-sentence report and a psychiatric report.
Evans will return to court to be sentenced on November 22.
