An independent opticians in Pontarddulais has reopened after relocating to newly refurbished premises.
Evans & Hughes Opticians moved from number 102 St Teilo Street to number 82 on the same street.
Their previous location closed on September 19, and the team worked to ensure their new home was ready to welcome patients from September 25. Staff aimed to make the new premises as 'warm and inviting' as possible for patients.
The new premises offer upgraded equipment, including OCT technology, providing a more comprehensive understanding of patients' eye health.
The practice also offers an extensive range of services, working alongside the hospital and NHS to co-manage conditions such as glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy, as well as providing hearing care services.
Lewis Richards, director at Evans & Hughes Opticians, said: "Over the years, we’ve continuously pushed to provide the best service possible to our patients.
"We felt this was the perfect opportunity to both maintain the high standard of eyecare that our patients recognise here while also expanding our services to ensure that the community is cared for in every corner of both eyecare and hearing care."
The new premises also accommodate three state-of-the-art examination rooms and a wider range of frames for all budgets.
To celebrate their reopening, the team held an official event on Friday, October 11, welcoming the practice team and members of the community.
Natalie Griffiths, practice manager, said: "The whole team work really hard to ensure that our patient’s needs are met and we’re all incredibly excited to be able to elevate that service even further following the relocation.
"We’re really looking forward to seeing our patients benefit from these improvements and expect this to have a lasting impact on the standards of eyecare, hearing care, and healthcare within the local community."
The team at Evans & Hughes Opticians hope their move will mark the start of a 'health and wellbeing hub' at the heart of Pontarddulais, with Medihub Pharmacy located next door.
