Tycroes Supermarket posted on their Facebook page:

“A very big thank you to everyone who supported us yesterday, especially the children who sang Welsh songs in our shop!

“Our staff, the contractors, family, friends and community! Our family have been proud to serve the community for 40 years and we will continue to do so.”

The first 50 customers on the reopening day were given One Stop hessian shopper bags.

Meanwhile, five customers got their hands on Golden Tickets that were hidden around the store and each walked away with a £20 One Stop voucher.

In addition to pupils from Tycroes Primary School singing Welsh songs, the reopening also featured an appearance from Tina Higgins and members of the community council, Tycroes local aid charity, local business owners and a ribbon cutting.

While the store was being refurbished, Mr Dale and his family kept their service going by opening a temporary shop with a 20-room container.

Mr Dale has long-term plans for the supermarket after taking over from his father, who retired last year.

He and his wife are keen to maintain a good reputation, by continuing to give back to the community.
