THE MOTHER of the teen charged with killing a Pantyffynnon father has been banned from driving for three years, after being caught over-the-limit for the second time in two-and-a-half years.
Julie Marie Williams, who lives at the Pantyffynon Road home where partner Bernard Evans was stabbed in January, was spotted swerving her BMW on Penybanc Road, on June 17.
Prosecutor Sian Vaughan told Ammanford magistrates that officers pulled the 41-year-old over, and a breath test showed she had 47 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.
The legal limit is 35mg/100ml.
Mrs Vaughan told the court that Williams had been banned for 20 months in January 2006, but that was reduced to 12 on appeal.
Peter Rees-Jones, defending, said his client had been through a rough patch after her daughter, Maxine, was charged with murder.
Mr Rees-Jones urged the magistrates to be lenient with Williams, who pleaded guilty, given the low level of the reading given.
But they opted to ban the defendant for three years and fined her £200.
“We note that the reading is not high but we cannot ignore that you have been in court before for a similar offence,” said magistrates.
