A professional boxer from the Towy Valley who threatened his ex-girlfriend’s former boyfriend has been told he could be facing a prison sentence.

Ammanford magistrates heard how Ademola Adebolu of 3 Bro Hywel, Llandeilo, started to harrass Mark Palin by attempting to goad him into a fight when he saw him out in Llandeilo on the evening of August 30.

Mr Palin saw the defendant approaching him and his girlfriend and Adebolu started to “give him some grief”’ about his ex-girlfriend, the bench was told.

Adebolu’s aggressive behaviour towards Mr Palin, prompted a witness who heard the disturbance to call the police.

The witness told police that Mr Palin was not responding to the aggression and threatening behaviour of Adebolu, and that she was concerned that the situation may get worse.

Twenty-year-old Adebolu admitted to police that he had been drinking before starting the argument with Mr Palin and that he was aware that he would have felt threatened by his behaviour.

The defendant claimed that Mr Palin had been laughing at him and that he had lost his patience.

But he maintained that he only intended to resolve issues about his ex-girlfriend and that the argument was only verbal.

Adebolu, who is currently on a suspended prison sentence after attacking an ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend, admitted to the charge of threatening behaviour with intent.

Due to the suspended sentence, Ammanford Magistrates ordered that a full pre-sentence report be carried out before the defendant is sentenced at Llanelli magistrates court on Thursday, October 30.
