A GLANAMAN drug addict has been given a chance to sort out his life after admitting possessing Class A drugs.
Christopher Michael Davies, of 52b Tircoed, pleaded guilty to having methadone at his home on August 13.
Beth Thomas, prosecuting, told Ammanford magistrates that the 36-year-old told police he had a bottle of methadone during a raid on his home.
“It was a 500ml bottle and there was around 335ml of methadone left,” she said.
Ms Thomas said that Davies had paid £50 for the drug in Swansea.
Gerald Hayes, defending, said methadone was a prescription drug used by heroin users such as Davies while trying to kick the habit.
He said that because Davies had been without a permanent address he had been unable to register with a GP.
“He now has a secure home and has been to see his local GP, who has been able to prescribe him a daily dose of methadone,” he said.
“The long-term aim is to wean him off methadone.”
Magistrates told Davies: “Heroin is a very dangerous drug, but you know that.”
“We are giving you another chance, so its up to you now.”
Davies was fined £115 and ordered to pay £60 costs with a £15 victim surcharge.
