A £2.4 MILLION project is being launched to celebrate the culture and heritage of the Towy Valley.
The Tywi Afon Yr Oesoedd Landscape Partnership scheme is aimed at bringing together communities from across the area and creating a legacy for the future.
It is being led by Carmarthenshire Council with a £1.5 million investment from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
A number of schemes will be rolled out, all of which are intended to conserve, upgrade and celebrate the area’s rich heritage.
New training will be given in the disappearing skills of stonemasonry and woodwork, to maintain the historic buildings associated with the valley.
The story of the valley will be told through themed activities and people will be able to explore the area’s history.
The scheme has been developed by the Carmarthenshire Tywi Valley Partnership, which is made up of representatives from Carmarthenshire Council, the Countryside Council for Wales and Menter Bro Dinefwr.
It has also received £557,000 from the Rural Development Fund.
Carmarthenshire Council Leader Councillor Meryl Gravell said the project would bring a real boost to the Towy Valley.
She said: “Tywi Afon Yr Oesoedd is a very exciting scheme.”
