Traders in Llandovery anticipating a cheerless festive season following news that the town council has been forced to axe their free Christmas tree service can breathe a sigh of relief – Christmas trees are on their way after all!
Last week’s Guardian exclusively revealed how councillors had been barred from erecting trees outside town shops due to health and safety restrictions.
But staff at UPM Tilhill’s South Wales District office, based above Lloyds TSB Bank in Llandovery, have now pledged to help their fellow traders by supplying free Christmas trees.
“It’s the season of goodwill after all and what better way for us to show our support and to help out the local community?” said district manager David Edwards.
“It was the bright idea of one of our local foresters, Arthur Wiggins. We hope this lifts the spirits of the people of Llandovery at this festive time of year.”
Any traders who are interested should contact UPM Tilhill’s Llandovery office on 01550 721442 before Wednesday, November 19.
