A LLANDEILO teenager made two bogus 999 calls, Amman-ford magistrates were told.
Christopher Mark Roberts, of Heol y Garreg Las, admitted two charges of raising false alarms to West Wales Fire Brigade.
The 18-year-old used the telephone kiosk at Crescent Road car park, Llandeilo, at 3.30am on Saturday, January 15 to make the first call.
He informed the operator that Llandeilo surgery was on fire.
Prosecutor Gerald Neave told the court: "As a result, Llandovery fire service attended the surgery and found it was a false alarm."
The second call was made at 1.50am on January 23, when Roberts claimed that CK's supermarket was on fire.
Mr Neave added: "As a result of a call, the building was checked and it was clear. There was no fire again."
A police officer later recognised the voice of the caller as Roberts.
He was interviewed when he admitted making the bogus calls and said he knew it was an offence.
A Mid and West Wales Fire spokesperson said: "Hoaxers who make false emergency calls to the 999 service waste valuable firefighters' time and risk prosecution.
"All 999 calls are recorded and can be traced in seconds. This is a serious issue which can mean that firefighters are prevented from getting to a real fire in time to save someone's life."
Magistrates ordered pre-sentence reports on Roberts, who will appear for sentencing at Llanelli Magistrates' Court on February 23.
