INDIVIDUALS and companies in Llandovery are being urged to save office materials that normally ends up in the bin to raise money for local Scouts.
The First Llandovery Scout Group has teamed up with leading recycling company Eurosource in an innovative fundraising scheme.
Every time an item such as toner and printer cartridges or old mobile phones is donated, the group will receive a cash donation.
Llandovery Scout cub leader Andrew Davies said: "Throwing away old mobile phone or printer cartridges is not very environmentally friendly.
"Some mobile phone batteries contain cadmium and other dangerous and toxic substances.
"Very few printer cartridges are recycled. Many are buried in landfill sites when they could be helping our fundraising efforts."
Andrew is appealing to people to collect unwanted mobile phones, chargers and phone batteries as well as used printer inkjet and toner cartridges from friends, relatives and neighbours.
Items can be dropped off at either Llandovery Post Office or Somerfield in Llandovery.
