LLANELLI magistrates have given the mother of killer Maxine Williams a chance to put her life in order after she pleaded guilty to two charges of assaulting police officers.
An earlier hearing was told how 42-year-old Julie Edwards, of 57 Pantyffynnon Road, Ammanford, had punched one of the officers and slapped another after her partner Paul Quilligan was arrested for kicking the wing mirror of a parked car.
Edwards subsequently told the court how she would prefer jail rather than the prospect of being alone in the house where her then-partner Bernard Evans was stabbed to death in January 2008.
Last week Edwards received an 18-month community order along with an alcohol activity requirement and warned not to be found drunk in a public place during the next three months.
She was also given an 18-month supervision requirement and ordered to pay £100 costs.
