Ammanford Park Bowls Club members Sam Brown, Scott Williams, Rhys Evans and Paul Mason have won the Carmarthenshire Open Fours competition and qualified for the National Championships at the home of Welsh bowls, Llandrindod Wells.
After defeating former county champions and Welsh internationals to reach the final, the Ammanford Park rink, skipped by Paul Mason, produced an excellent display of bowling to edge past opponents Graig Merthyr.
Trailing 19-13 with 2 ends remaining, the Ammanford rink played some outstanding shots to pull it back to 19-19 to take the match to a sudden death extra end. The local quartet held their nerve to take victory, bringing the title back to a club which has a rich history in the sport of bowls.
Any new bowlers wishing to try the sport can contact the club through their Facebook page for more information.
