Ammanford Reserves 1 Cwmamman Utd 5
The very first competitive Amman valley derby between Ammanford AFC and Cwmamman Utd reserve sides saw Cwm come away with a convincing 5-1 win. A crowd of around 200 saw a free flowing match in which both sides played good football with plenty of attacking intent.
From early on Cwmamman disrupted the usual free flowing Ammanford play with their midfield of Ashley Twigg, Rhydian Jones and Kian Evans winning plenty of ball and regularly freeing wingers Olly Dymond and Joe Lewis.
The pressure told after 20mins when Dymond pounced on a failed clearance to open the scoring. With Nathan Mcneil and Grant Rees strong at Centre Back ensuring keeper Matthew Rees had little to do Cwm continued to press and Joe Lewis and Cameron Isaac with a great individual run added two more for a healthy 3-0 lead. Ammanford though continued to compete strongly and on half time Nico Sofiu scored a good goal to pull one back.
The second half saw Cwm continue in the same vein with their full backs Rhys Evans and Rhys Williams prompting a number of attacks. A long shot from Cam Isaac squeezed in to make it four before sub Brieg Matthews scored a spectacular volley to round off the scoring. Ammanford fought to the end but a strong all round performance by Cwmamman on the back of last weeks 5-1 win over Garden Village will boost them as they look forward to playing again on Friday evening at home to Ynysygerwn.
