A former Amman Valley Comprehensive School pupil will be captaining Wales Women’s Rugby Team during their World Cup opener against Scotland.
Hannah Jones, with more than 35 caps to her name, captained the national side in the two summer games away at Canada and England.
The 25-year-old from Brynamman, will now wear the armband on the biggest stage, in the World Cup in New Zealand.
Wales’ first game is against Scotland at the Semenoff Stadium in Whangarei on New Zealand’s North Island.
The game kicks off on Sunday, October 9, at 5.45am in British time.

Following that, Wales face two more tough games against hosts New Zealand and then Australia.
Jones played for Brynamman Primary School and Amman Valley Comprehensive School during her childhood, before signing for Gloucester Hartpury in 2019 at the age of 23.
Internationally, she was called up to both the 2013 and 2014 Women’s Six Nations Championships, before making her debut against this weekend’s opponents Scotland in 2015.
