Ammanford Cricket Club managed to stay in South Wales Premier One by the skin of their teeth, and without a ball being bowled.
On the rain-ridden final day of a rain-ridden season, one solitary but remarkable result decided matters at either end of the season.
At the top was the battle for the title between Swansea and Newport.
At the bottom, three teams – Ammanford, Neath and Ynystawe - were vying to escape the drop along with already relegated Port Talbot Town.
Swansea were due to host Ammanford, Newport were at home to Neath.
The weather determined that only Newport's match against Neath went ahead.
A widely expected maximum points for Newport would take them level on points with Swansea at the summit, whilst defeat for Neath would see them relegated.
Instead, a superb 3 wicket victory out of the not-so-blue for Neath saw them join Ammanford in 7th place, and left Newport wondering what might have been.
Ynystawe, whose match against Port Talbot was cancelled, were relegated by a single point. Swansea were champions without bowling a ball.
Ammanford, whose miserable season featured 7 cancellations, more than any other team in Premier One, can look forward to another season in the top flight.
