PLANS to convert the first floor of a former pub, which is now a shop, into a multiple occupancy premises have been approved.
The plans were to change the use of the first floor accommodation to C4 house in multiple occupation as well as associated engineering works to be carried out on the former Golden Lion Hotel on Penybanc Road, Ammanford, which is now the Best One store.
The plans were submitted by Kiran Thavapatham for the vacant accommodation on the first floor. It already has a residential use, but it will need the classification changed to be able to proceed with the plan.
On November 7, Carmarthenshire County Council approved the plans with the conditions that the work is carried out in line with the approved plans and begins within five years of the approval date. There is also a condition that the use of the first floor must be in line with the C4 use which has now been granted.
Another condition is that prior to the development, the access width must be increased to 4.5 metres and the access must be hard-surfaced in a bonded material for at least 5 metres behind the edge of the carriageway.
Visibility splays must be put in place and kept and the access, visibility splays and turning area must not be obstructed and should be left open.
