A CAFÉ for the community could be coming to Ammanford after a change of use was granted by the council.
Callum Harris of Foodies Catering, based in Pembrey, applied to Carmarthenshire County Council for a Certificate of Conformity for the property at 28 College Street, Ammanford.
Mr Harris currently occupies the building, which is owned by Penllwyn Properties LTD and he wants to convert the usage from a class A1 to a class A3 as advised by the council’s planning officers for his plan to convert the property into a small café for the community.
Currently, the property is used for storage and has a shop front and rear store room and toilet.
Mr Harris’ application states that he intends to use the existing layout of the property as much as possible, creating a small seating area, a big bathroom with baby changing, toilet and sink, and a seating area for customers with a small kitchenette area and paying desk with fridge displays.
On January 11, the council approved the change of use with the condition that an application for a Commencement Notice Approval must be made to the planning department within the next two years, and approved before the work on the change of use can begin. The work then must be started within 12 months from the date of the Commencement Notice Approval being issued.
The existing ground-floor windows and shop fronts must not be obscured by paint, whitewash, film, curtains or any other opaque material either inside or outside.
