PLANS in relation to four homes in Saron have been refused by the council.
Carmarthenshire County Council have refused outline plans submitted by Dorian Thomas for the plot of land off 194 Saron Road, Saron.
The site is currently vacant and the application was an outline reserved matters application for access and scale of the site. The development would take place on 0.49 hectares of greenfield land.
The current development is in outline format at present and all matters aside from access and scale will be reserved for a future application, with the current application focusing on access and scale.
The proposed scheme featured four detached three-bedroom homes, which will have a shared drive off Saron Road.
The final design for the homes – which will be in dormer bungalow style – will draw on the design and shape of the surrounding properties.
On January 25, the council refused the outline plans in relation to the access and scale of the site saying that there was insufficient information provided to allow the council to assess the impact on biodiversity and trees, as well as the management of surface water drainage.
There was also insufficient information in relation to how the development could fare as it is in a high risk area as defined by the Coal Authority.
It was also refused due to a lack of affordable housing provisions in the plans and there is no contribution towards mitigation for the loss of potential supporting habitat for marsh fritillary butterflies.
