A school in Ammanford could receive new changing facilities and classrooms if plans are approved by county planners.

The proposal includes the construction of a new building at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman by replacing the Tennis Courts.

The plans state that alongside the changing facilities, the building will feature two new classrooms, a physiotherapy room, a kitchen, and sanitary facilities.

Additionally, the project includes the creation of two pickleball courts immediately outside the building in order to expand recreational opportunities.

According to the design and access statement, vehicle parking is not relevant, trees and hedges will not be planted near the site and there is no risk of flooding.

No new members of staff will need to be hired as teachers already working at the school will supervise the children in the new classrooms and changing facilities, both of which will solely be available during the school’s opening hours.

Welsh Water have responded to the planning application and have asked for no detriment to the public sewerage system if permission is granted.

The company have outlined the condition that no surface water is allowed to connect directly or indirectly with the public sewerage system.

Their reasons are to protect overloading of the public sewerage system, protect the health and safety of existing residents and prevent pollution to the environment.

Meanwhile, the Sustainable Drainage Approval Body (SAB) have expressed that a SuDS (Sustainable Drainage System) application is needed because the proposed construction area is greater than 100 metres squared.
