A number of planning applications for Ammanford, Llandeilo, and the surrounding areas have been submitted to the council.

Here are the applications submitted to Carmarthenshire County Council between November 11 and November 15.

Extension works

An application has been filed to demolish the existing single-storey extension and construct a new two-storey extension at 150 High Street, Ammanford.

The proposed extension will have a combination of a trussed rafter roof and a flat roof joist.

The extension will also feature anthracite-coloured uPVC, double-glazed windows and doors.

Help centre and food bank

An application has been submitted to replace the existing food bank storage containers with a purpose-built, two-storey help centre and food bank building at Ammanford Evangelical Church.

The new building will be located on a 445-square metre plot of land off Lloyd Street, behind Ammanford Church.

The site is currently used as for the food bank, operating out of shipping containers.

The new building will feature stone cladding with a natural finish and larch cladding. It will have a slate pitched roof, flat roof with single ply membrane and double glazed powdered aluminium windows and doors.

New homes

An outline planning consent application has been submitted for the construction of two detached, two-storey residential properties with attached garages, driveways, parking, and turning areas on land on Maesquarre Road, Betws.

The plots, which once housed colliery buildings until they were demolished in 2000, will feature compensatory native tree planting and a native species hedge along the plot boundary.

Cabin retention

An application has been submitted for the retention of six tourism accommodation units (cabins) at Brecon View Eco Village, Dynevor Road, Garnant.

The cabins, which have been in place since March 1, 2020, have slate roofs and wood walls.

Planning permission was previously granted on the site for 10 tourism accommodation units of a smaller nature, but alternative units were constructed to meet changing market trends and demand.

The current application seeks to regularise the form of development found on the application site.

Extension

An application has been submitted for an extension to the rear elevation of a dwelling house at Bronygaer on Talley Road, Llandeilo.

The finishings would match the main property, and solar panels may be added to the roof.

Bungalow

An application has been made for the erection of a new, purpose-built, single-storey disabled-compliant bungalow at 34 Clos Coed Derw, Penygroes.

This is a resubmission of a previously refused application, with the reasoning relating to drainage.

Discharge of condition

An application has been submitted for the discharge of conditions 4, 5, and 6 on PL/06630 (Phase 1 & 2 Contaminated Land Reports and Mine Gas Risk Assessment) at land adjacent to 98 Penybanc Road, Ammanford.

The main application for a new home on the land was approved with conditions on February 6, 2024.

Discharge of condition

An application has been made for the discharge of conditions 6 and 8 on PL/06082 (Phase 1 site investigation by Wesson Environmental, including appendices, and proposed block plan including planting September 2024) at Petals Garden Centre, Pontardulais Road, Tycroes.

The main application relates to the change of use from existing ground floor retail space (garden centre) to residential use (single dwelling unit linked with existing residential floors above) together with alterations to existing residential floors above, which was approved on October 3, 2023, with conditions.

The discharge of condition application aims to remove the conditions as the applicant believes the criteria have been fulfilled.
