WELL DONE - Congratulations to Jason Senchal of Maesywern Road,Glanamman on completing the recent ten-peak race in the Lake District.Jason,along with work colleagues from his Merthyr workplace undertook the gruelling non stop 75km hike/run with over 5,600 metres of ascent,finishing in 14 hours ,and raising some £4,000 for the Tenovus charity.

HEART FOUNDATION FUNDRAISER - Keep on Pumping, for the British Heart Foundation, is an event being organised by Funky Pump Ammanford this Saturday, September 21. This will be a fancy dress class from 9.30am to 11am, to be followed by a barbecue and a live DJ from 3pm to 7.30pm at the Raven Industrial Estate, Garnant. The event will move down to Amman United Rugby Club for Karaoke. Entry is free, with raffle prizes up for grabs.

BEREAVEMENT - Mr John (Jack)Lloyd of Penygarn Road, Tycroes, but formerly of Cwmaman Road, Glanaman passed away, peacefully on September 1 at Glangwili Hospital, Carmarthen.
Jack was the loving husband of the late Glenys, dear father of the late Haydn, father in law of Janet, a devoted grandfather and great-grandad, and dear brother of Margaret, Maureen and the late Mary.

COMPUTER COURSES - A Computers-Absolute Beginners' course starts on Tuesday, October 1 (6.30pm-8.30pm) at Glanaman Community Education Centre, High Street. This is for people with no previous computer experience who would like to learn how to use the Internet,type letters, create posters and more. The course is over 30 weeks.
Computer Skills-Year 2 is for people who have some computer experience and want to develop their skills such as Word Processing and Spreadsheets. There is a choice of two slots for this course: Monday, September 30 (6-8pm) or Friday, October 4 (9.30am-11.30am), again over 30 weeks.

EISTEDDFOD - Calfaria Chapel’s popular annual “Eisteddfod” takes place this year on Friday, October 4, starting at 4pm (locals), open categories from 6.30pm. Adjudicating will be Davida Lewis from Swansea (singing) and Jane Altham-Watkins from Glais (Recitation).
