BIRTHDAY NEWS - Mrs Florrie Cooper, formerly of St David’s Road, Tairgwaith celebrated her 88th birthday on September 12, Florrie now being a resident at a local Ammanford Care Home.
Best wishes also to another Tairgwaith lady, and fellow Octogenarian Mrs Ivy Tanner, who celebrated an 80-plus birthday, also on September 12.
DIAMOND WEDDING - Mr and Mrs Russell Jones of Gwaun cae Gurwen recently celebrated their Diamond (60th) wedding anniversary. The couple were presented by Cllr Sharon Sunderland, Chairperon of GCG Community Council with a commemorative plate on the Council’s behalf.
TAIRGWAITH SENIORS - Tairgwaith Senior Citizens were welcomed by Chairperson Ivy Tanner who also wished well to members in hospital or ill at home, including Janice Evans, recovering at home following recent surgery.
Deepest sympathy was expressed to Linda Leonard, following the recent passing away of her brother in law.
Birthday wishes were extended to Ivy Tanner (September 12), Kathleen Kerrison ( September17) and Wendy Williams( September 28) who celebrate birthdays this month. We next meet on Monday (September 23) at the Hall.
SUNDAY SHOWS - Don’t forget Cwmgors Rugby Club has a “live” band performing every Sunday afternoon between 6 and 8pm.
CWMGORS RFC will be away at Cwmavon RFC in Division 4 South West on Saturday(September 21).
BEREAVEMENT - Mrs Agnes Jones, formerly of Pantyfedwen, Cwmgors passed away, peacefully at Parcwern Care Home,Penybanc on September 2. Agnes was the beloved widow of the late John,a much loved mother of Helen,Tony and Kathryn, a loving grandmother and great-grandmother, mother in law and sister.
The funeral was at Llanelli Crematorium on September 12.
GCG ADVICE CLINIC AND SOCIAL GROUP - The next fortnightly meeting will be on September 19 (Thursday) from 1.30 to 3pm at the new Community Hall, New Road, Gwaun cae Gurwen, a chance to learn new skills, socialising, and offering a signposting and advice service to local people. OPEN DAY - Glangarnant Care Home, Neuadd Road, GCG welcomes everyone to their Open Day on Sunday(September 22). Come along and meet the staff, enjoy the stalls and activities. There will be homemade soap for sale, face painting, a raffle, henna hand painting, a samosa stall, a barbecue, a cake stall, and a tombola, all happening between 2pm and 6pm. Entry is totally free. MUSICAL EVENING - A Musical Evening will be held at Llanfair Church, Cwmgors on Friday (September 20) at 7pm, featuring local musicians, singers and a Brass Ensemble. Tickets are £5, which includes refreshments. All proceeds are towards Llanfair Church.
