BIRTHDAY NEWS - Very best wishes to a well-known Garnant lady, Mrs Doreen Davies of 78, Cwmaman Road, who will be celebrating her 90th birthday tomorrow (Thursday), October 10. Doreen is the oldest surviving resident of the former Springfield Terrace, as it was known.
FIRE SAFETY EVENT - Garnant Family Centre will be holding a Fire Safety event on Tuesday, October 22 from 11am to 12 noon, offering free advice on fire safety, home safety and free alarms.

GOLDEN WEDDING - Celebrating their 50th (Golden) wedding anniversary on October 5 (Saturday) were Garnant couple Terry and Eirwen Windsor of 47, Maesybedol, who were married at Bethel Newydd Chapel, Garnant on October 5, 1963.
Eirwen is a native of Garnant, while Terry,who hails from Gwaun cae Gurwen originally, formerly worked at Steer Pit and had a milk round in the Garnant area, before spending numerous years driving lorries for T.Richard Jones before retiring.
The couple have two daughters, Alison and Angela, and are the proud grandparents of four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

CHARITY BIKE RIDE - Eighteen hardy cyclists set off from the Fishermens’ Club, Glanamman last Sunday, on a sponsored Paul Pugh Charity Bike Ride, to the Sugar Loaf and back, a distance of some 62 miles, and the saddle-sore band, who all completed the distance, managed to raise £985 for the worthy cause, which is expected to rise when all monies are in. Organisers thank everyone who kindly sponsored the event,and all the riders who gave up their Sunday for the event.
