CHRISTMAS CONCERT - Denny Twp and the children of the area are busy rehearsing for their 'Christmas Cracker' concert which will be on Saturday 14 December in Carmel Hall at 7pm. Entrance £4 for adults, children free, seasonal refreshments included. Father Christmas will be there too, so come along for a fun and festive evening. NANTYGROES WI - held their AGM 14 November in Carmel Hall, when 26 members attended. Acting President Jenny Evans welcomed Pat and Doreen from County who were there to oversee the voting. Following the normal business, items from the newsletter were noted. Congratulations were given to Dawn, Hazel and Frances who came joint second in the Tip It competition. Eight members would be going to the ACM on 16 November, when Paul Thorburn would be speaking instead of Jules Hudson.
Jenny reported that 80 boxes for the Christmas Child charity had been delivered and thanked everyone for their support. At a recent Group meeting, a request for efforts in raising money for the forthcoming Eisteddfod in Llanelli would be appreciated and a suggestion for a Bingo evening was approved. Pauline took names and money for the Christmas lunch to be held on Friday 13 December at the White Hart, Llandeilo (Please note - no meeting on Thursday 12th)
The meeting continued with minutes of the last AGM being accepted, followed by the annual reports. Jenny advised that Frances and Hazel would be stepping down from the committee and thanked them both for all their support. Jenny was unanimously voted in as President and Pat thanked her for doing such a good job as acting President. The new committee is as follows: Jenny Evans - President ; Dawn – Treasurer; Carol – Secretary and Trips & Transport; Lucinda – Minutes Secretary; Pauline – Vice President, Press and Trips & Transport; Shirley – Meet and Greet; Nansi – Raffle; Wendy – MCS and assistant Secretary; Eve – Register and assistant Treasurer.
While refreshments were being enjoyed, members had the opportunity to make a bracelet, with instructions ably given by Sheila Howorth, who kindly provided all the necessary bits and pieces for everyone to have a go at threading beads of their choice. Next meeting 9 January 2014.
CHRISTMAS AFTERNOON TEA - Sue Ladd and Friends charity and the Old Mill Foundation host a fundraiser at Carmel Village hall on Saturday, November 30 from 2pm to 5pm.
Enjoy a festive afternoon of fancy tea, scrumptious food and good company, and help raise money for two amazing local cancer support charities. Tickets are priced at £7.50 adults, and £3.50 children. The event will also include craft workshops, raffle, stalls and pampering sessions. Ring Debbie on 07877 404148 for tickets.
