GENUINE GENT - The locality has lost a genuine gentleman with the sad death of Mr Winston Morgan of Penyrallt, Garnant , on November 16 at his home, at the age of 72 having lost his battle with illness.
A native of Garnant, and a member of a well-known and respected local family, Winston, one of eight children, worked hard all his life, employed in the building trade for some time, and also working at Glangrenig Colliery; he later worked for numerous years at the late Bobby Hunt’s Garnant Concrete Works near his home.
A fit man, and a keen weightlifting and bodybuilding enthusiast, particularly in his younger days, he once commented he'd met up-and-coming young Austrian bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger during a competition.
A popular, yet quiet man, but a gentleman in every sense of the word, Winston could turn his hand to many things, and would often go well out of his way to do a favour or help a friend in need. For this he will be always remembered.
Our deepest sympathy is expressed his widow Ann on her loss, the couple having only recently attained their 50th wedding anniversary.
The couple have one son, Steven, who after forging a career in the Army, stationed in Germany, stayed on there, and still lives and works in Dortmund with wife Tatiana and their daughter, Steven currently employed as a Landscape Gardener. Condolences also to Steven, to Winston’s surviving five sisters, and all the rest of the family on their loss.
The funeral will be tomorrow (Thursday), November 28 at Morriston Crematorium (11am).
