The latest meeting of the Cwarter Bach Community Council took place at the The Ystradowen Community Centre on Wednesday, January 8.
Items dealt with: Amman Valley Cycle Path - Due to continued concerns about the proposed route along Cwmgarw Road, a site meeting will take place on January 15 at 10.30am on Cwmgarw bridge. Residents along that part of route, between Cwmgarw bridge and Rhosfa road, who will be affected by this proposed route and apparently have already been contacted by the county council are urged to make every effort to attend this meeting.
Traffic Calming Measures - A meeting to discuss traffic calming measures and parking in the Cefnbrynbrain and Ystradowen area will take place on Thursday, January 16 at Ystradowen Community Centre, 6.30pm.
Allotments - The recent meeting regarding the proposed allotments in the Maesyderi area ended positively and plans will now go ahead.
Black Mountain Centre - There is concern that the Centre has still not accepted the community council’s request to have a representative attend meetings of the Black Mountain Centre. A request has been made for an officer of the Centre to attend the next meeting of the community council.
Ammanford Fire Station - Recent news regarding a stay of execution re the downgrading of the Fire Station published by the local press was most welcomed.
Brynaman Swimming Pool - The new committee are looking positively at ways of ensuring the future of the facility. A business plan is being prepared which hopefully, will ease the progress towards a better future.
Footpaths - Carmarthenshire County Council are still not prepared to allow the care of footpaths to revert to the community council. The state of footpaths within Cwarter Bach is now causing grave concern. Many are in a positively dangerous state and are a safety hazard and an accident waiting to happen. They remain the statutory responsibility of the County Council who are guilty of inadequate maintenance. Cwarter Bach Community Council has persistently complained about this but to no avail.
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 5 at the Black Mountain Centre at 6.30pm.
