BIRTHDAY NEWS - A number of Cwmaman Octogenarian residents celebrate notable birthdays this week. Joining their ranks today (Wednesday), January 15 is well-known local lady and hardworking Christ Church stalwart Mrs Megan Hopkin-Thomas of Bishop Road, Garnant who is 80.
Garnant gentleman Mr Tony Mackey of 6, Maesyrhendre will be celebrating his 85th birthday on January 18 (Saturday).
Another gent from Maesyrhendre, Mr Dai Davies, known to all as Dai Cook, will be 87 years young meanwhile, on January 15 (today, Wednesday).
Former Glanaman lady Mrs Stella Harries, of Cwmaman Road will also be celebrating her 87th birthday today (January 15), Stella latterly a resident at Glangarnant Residential Home.
Mrs Jean Rees (nee O’Brien) of Dynevor Road, Garnant will be 83 years young on Sunday (January 19), and another lady celebrating a notable 88th birthday this month is Mrs Ethel Morgan of 15, Ceidrim Road, Garnant.
£410 RAISED FOR HANNAH FUND - Thanks to all the customers of Amman United RFC who bought tickets for the recent Turkey Raffle on Boxing Day. A special thank you to Eleanor for organising the raffle, and to Kevin Lewis (Butchers’) and Castell Howell for donating the turkeys. A grand total of £410 was collected, in aid of the Hannah Poole Fund; diolch yn Fawr i bawb.

LEGION MEETING - The next monthly meeting of the Garnant branch of the Royal British Legion will be on Tuesday, February 4 at 7.15pm at Garnant Club, members are informed.
FOODBANK - Garnant Family Centre is now a distributor for food vouchers for Ammanford’s Foodbank, which provides short-term emergency food for individuals or families in crisis. One voucher normally provides enough food for three days. Contact Sarah, Eira or Martin ar 825941 for more details.
AMSER TWF - Garnant Family Centre holds Fun craft activities, stories and Nursery Rhymes, in Welsh at the Centre, 25, Maesybedol, Garnant, the next on Monday (January 20) from 10am to 11am; Amser Twf returns on the following two Mondays (January 27 and February 3) .
Looking ahead, the Family Centre’s February events include Making Bug Boxes on Monday, February 24 (10am-2.30pm), the half term Table Top Sale on Tuesday, February 25 (1am-11am), and a Centre trip to Techniquest on Wednesday, February 26.
CWMAMMAN SENIOR CITIZENS - Will meet tomorrow (Thursday, January 16) at the Community Centre, High Street, Glanaman; we hope everyone enjoyed the Festive break, and wish you all a Happy New Year. Best wishes to all our members currently ill at home, or laid up in hospital. Get well soon.

CWMAMAN RAINBOWS AND BROWNIES - Are always on the lookout for new recruits. The Rainbows, for girls aged 5 to 7 years old, meet on Thursdays at the Community Centre, Glanaman (4.45pm) .
Cwmaman Brownies, for girls in the 7 to 10 age group, meanwhile meet on Thursdays also, at 6pm at Glanaman Guide/Scouts’ Hall.
