CHRISTMAS DINNER - Saron Chapel, Rhydyfro celebrated their Christmas dinner on December 17 at the George Hotel, Cwmtwrch. Mrs Hazel Bevan organised the event that resulted in a magnificent afternoon.
RAFA XMAS DINNER - The RAFA Pontardawe celebrated their Christmas Dinner at the Masons Arms, Rhydypandy on December 18. It was a nice day with all enjoying themselves.
CWMTAWE COMMUNITY SCHOOL - The annual Christmas Dinner provided by the staff at Cwmtawe Community School to 110 members of Pontardawe and District Old Age Pensioners took place on December 19 at the school. Mr Emlyn Williams Programme Secretary for the OAP Pontardawe would like to thank everyone involved for making the say such an enjoyable one for the seniors.
It was on the same day that Mr A. T. Jones Headmaster spent his last weekend at the school prior to his retirement as Headmaster. Mrs Meinir Williams - Treasurer OAP presented Mr Jones with a suitable gift on behalf of Pontardawe OAP.
LADIES CIRCLE XMAS DINNER - Tabernacle Chapel Ladies Circle "Ruth and Naomi" travelled to the Crown and Sceptre, Neath to celebrate their Christmas Dinner. It was a lovely day enjoyed by all the members.
SCHOOL GERMANY TRIP - Cwmtawe Community School's German Christmas Markets year 9 and 10 pupils spent the last week of the Autumn Term visiting the Christmas markets of Bonn and Cologne in Germany, enjoying also a trip on the River Rhine, with a three course meal and testing their skating stills, and also a visit to a theme park Phantasialand.
FUND-RAISING EFFORTS - Cwmtawe Community School Year 11 pupils dived straight into the fund-raising efforts of this years charity week by taking on a mud slide. Nobody held back as both staff and pupils enjoyed a slide down a muddy hill.
HISTORY SOCIETY - Swansea Valley History Society has arranged a lecture on the ‘Jones and Pendrel families at Garth’ to be given by Elizabeth Belcham at the Cross Centre, Pontardawe on Wednesday, January 15 at 7pm. All welcome.
