LLANDOVERY and District Independent Group, as well as other friends from Llandeilo area, went on an outing to St Fagan museum on Sunday, August 18.
The highlight of the tour was a service held by the minister Rev Gerwyn Jones in Penrhiw chapel which was originally an Unitarian chapel at Newcastle Emlyn area.
The Rev Jones outlined a short but concise history of the Unitarian movement outlining the similarities between the Unitarians and other non-Conformist religions. Two hymns were recited by members of the Independents from the Llandovery area and sung without musical accompaniment, one was the well-known hymn Calon Lan. The day was concluded by having a meal in Cross Hands on the way home.
